Im­por­tant work is set for ‘well-used’ road

THE A435 Eve­sham Road be­tween Bishop’s Cleeve and the Pam­ing­ton Junc­tion will be resur­faced as part of the Glouces­ter­shire County Coun­cil’s £150mil­lion in­vest­ment in county’s roads.

The work is set to take place be­tween Tues­day, Septem­ber 10 and Thurs­day 3 Oc­to­ber and will see stretches of the road which links Chel­tenham with the Ted­ding­ton Hands Round­about closed.

To help keep dis­rup­tion to a min­i­mum, work will take place be­tween 7pm and 7am ex­clud­ing week­ends.

An of­fi­cial di­ver­sion route, suit­able for all ve­hi­cles that nor­mally use the closed road, will be sign­posted.

Coun­cil­lor Ver­non Smith (Con, Tewkes­bury East), cabi­net mem­ber re­spon­si­ble for high­ways, said: “This is a well-used road that is near­ing the end of its life so it is im­por­tant we carry out this resurfacin­g work as part of the county coun­cil’s £150 mil­lion in­vest­ment. I would like to thanklo­cal res­i­dents and road users for their pa­tience while this work is car­ried out.”

Coun­cil­lor Rob Bird (Con, Bishop’s Cleeve) said: “I’m ex­tremely pleased that this key stretch of road is now be­ing resur­faced as this will have such a pos­i­tive im­pact for so many lo­cal res­i­dents. Ev­ery ef­fort is be­ing made to min­imise dis­rup­tion.”
