Important work is set for ‘well-used’ road
THE A435 Evesham Road between Bishop’s Cleeve and the Pamington Junction will be resurfaced as part of the Gloucestershire County Council’s £150million investment in county’s roads.
The work is set to take place between Tuesday, September 10 and Thursday 3 October and will see stretches of the road which links Cheltenham with the Teddington Hands Roundabout closed.
To help keep disruption to a minimum, work will take place between 7pm and 7am excluding weekends.
An official diversion route, suitable for all vehicles that normally use the closed road, will be signposted.
Councillor Vernon Smith (Con, Tewkesbury East), cabinet member responsible for highways, said: “This is a well-used road that is nearing the end of its life so it is important we carry out this resurfacing work as part of the county council’s £150 million investment. I would like to thanklocal residents and road users for their patience while this work is carried out.”
Councillor Rob Bird (Con, Bishop’s Cleeve) said: “I’m extremely pleased that this key stretch of road is now being resurfaced as this will have such a positive impact for so many local residents. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption.”
