Man who dis­turbed raiders at­tacked

A MAN who dis­turbed masked raiders who were at­tempt­ing to bur­gle a house in Chel­tenham on Tues­day night had to be taken to hospi­tal af­ter be­ing at­tacked.

One of the would-be bur­glars in­jured the brave neigh­bour af­ter he dis­turbed them at the house in Cold Pool Lane, in Up Hather­ley, shortly be­fore 8.45pm last night.

The of­fend­ers were de­scribed as be­ing a group of four men who were wear­ing hats and had scarves round their faces.

They drove off in a sil­ver 4x4 and headed off along Up Hather­ley Way in the di­rec­tion of Shur­d­ing­ton Road.

Res­i­dents liv­ing along Up Hather­ley Way heard the sound of a fast car shortly af­ter­wards.

The in­jured man was taken to Glouces­ter­shire Royal Hospi­tal by the Am­bu­lance Ser­vice for his in­juries to be as­sessed.

Of­fi­cers are ask­ing any­one who saw sus­pi­cious ac­tiv­ity in the area to please call 101 quot­ing in­ci­dent 440 of 10 Septem­ber.

Speak­ing at the scene of the in­ci­dent last night, the neigh­bour said of his ac­tions in dis­turb­ing the raiders: “That’s what neigh­bours are for.”
