Two centuries fire Lisowski to Selby win
JACK Lisowski was today facing Shaun Murphy in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters.
The Churchdown man reached the last eight with a superb 6-3 win over former world champion Mark Selby after a 6-1 first-round win over wild card Wu Yize.
That win saw the 28-year-old world number 11 open up a 4-0 lead helped by breaks of 62 and 81.
The teenage Chinese player hit back with a break of 76 to get on the board but runs of 73 and 54 for Lisowski completed the victory.
The former Chosen Hill School pupil was also in fine scoring form against Selby.
He opened the match with a break of 119 and after the next two frames were shared Lisowski opened up a lead of 3-1 with a break of 105.
But Selby levelled the match helped by a break of 107 in frame six only for Lisowski to take the next three frames, and the match, sealing the win with a break of 72.
He is guaranteed at least £32,000 for reaching the last eight of the invitational event.
