CHARL­TON Kings held off Hawkes­bury Up­ton by 46 runs at Fren­chay to lift the Stu­art Can­vas Glouces­ter­shire Tro­phy.

Kings, fresh from com­plet­ing a third­place fin­ish in Di­vi­sion One of the Glouces­ter­shire County League, took charge af­ter win­ning the toss by reach­ing 230-9 from their 40 overs.

Open­ers Ali Parker (40) and cap­tain Chris Bur­row (46) shared a part­ner­ship of 82 while Liam Brignull (29), Josh Trewin (31), Neal Mitchell (25) and Matt Lux­ton (22 not) also made their pres­ence felt out in the mid­dle.

Jay West­wood (3-36 from seven) and Gavin Hux­ford (3-44 from eight) were the pick of the at­tack for Hawkes­bury, Di­vi­sion Three run­ners-up, who made a solid start with the bat.

West­wood and Ge­orge Bai­ley put on 67 but West­wood was bowled for 28 by Benny El­lis who grabbed two more wick­ets en route to fig­ures of 3-36 from eight as Hawkes­bury be­gan to stum­ble.

Bai­ley went for 38 and de­spite the ef­forts of Mike Col­burn (35), Kings con­tin­ued to turn the screw through Chris Bur­row (2-16), Sau­rav Ka­math (2-38) and Seb Jor­dan (2-32) to wrap up the win.
