Rodon makes de­but in Wales qual­i­fy­ing win

FOR­MER Chel­tenham Town loan de­fender Joe Rodon was named in Wales’ start­ing XI for their Euro 2020 qual­i­fier against Azer­bai­jan at Cardiff City Sta­dium.

It was the 21-year-old’s first cap, hav­ing pre­vi­ously rep­re­sented the Un­der-21s and 20s.

Rodon made seven starts and five sub­sti­tute ap­pear­ances in League Two for Chel­tenham.

Rodon also started Mon­day’s 1-0 friendly win over Be­larus, along­side an­other ex-robins loa­nee, Joe Mor­rell, who made his de­but.

Loan mid­fielder Jake Doyle-hayes, was on the bench for the Repub­lic of Ire­land Un­der-21s against Ar­me­nia.
