Could this place BE any more spectacular?

Gloucestershire Echo - - OPEN HOUSE -

BY SEASONS nine and 10, the stars of US sitcom Friends were banking an impressive $1m per episode, so it’s no surprise that they have plenty of spare cash to put in property. Actor Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing in the long-running show, certainly invested his earnings wisely, in bricks and mortar, with some stunning views thrown in. In fact the star, who’s just celebrated his 50th birthday, has been pretty shrewd when it comes to property buying and selling, dealing in a portfolio of luxury Californian homes over the past decade. He bought the jaw-dropping Penthouse 40 at The Century in Los Angeles after selling another home in LA’S Hollywood Hills Bird Streets in 2017. The paparazzi-proof condo covers the entire 40th floor of the 42-storey building and, for good reason, is known as the Mansion in the Sky. A super-high spec interior takes up more than 9,000sqft and was transformed by Matthew’s design team including architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Pagano. The customised, and highly glamorous home features four bedrooms, a huge living room and top-of-the-range screening rooms (perfect for watching all those endless Friends repeats, obviously). The master bedroom has incredible views across the LA skyline, a romantic seating area with fireplace, and dual baths and walk-in closets so there will be no fighting over wardrobe space or whose turn it is to take a soak. Four massive terraces provide an abundance of private outdoor space and yet more views – this time 360-degrees of lights and landmarks, from the downtown skyline to the beautiful ocean, the legendary Hollywood sign and the lush greenery of the hills of Bel-air and Beverly Hills. The agents say ‘other world-class amenities’ include an over-sized pool with cabanas, top-end gym and fitness studio, a cinema and private wine storage. And, of course, because anyone who’s got $35m to spend doesn’t want to be bothered, the gated Century building also features round-the-clock concierge and security.

Penthouse 40 is on the market for $35m with Compass, represented by Greg Holcomb and Cassandra Petersen (compass.com).
