» TIVOLI Wines owner David Dodd explained why he doesn’t sell Prosecco – but he does recommend Cava – to Circle to Success members at their recent Get Connected event.

Hosted in the shop’s Wine Library tasting room, in Andover Road, Cheltenham, David offered a fascinating insight into the wine trade.

He revealed why certain brands cost more, his plans for the future and how independent wine merchants can buck national high street trends to reach more customers – with emphasis on the rise of English producers.

The event, co-hosted by Circle to Success and Reach plc, publishers of the Echo and Citizen newspapers and Gloucestershire live, saw guests sample 32 wines on offer in the Wine Library’s state-of-the-art Enomatic tasting machines. David said he welcomes all shoppers to visit the Wine Library before making a purchase. The venue is also used for events and courses and discounts are available on Saturdays from 2pm.
