CHELTENHAM Town manager Michael Duff says George Lloyd has earned his new contract.

Lloyd has signed until the summer of 2022 and Duff said:

“He is a young player we have high thoughts of and he’s highly regarded, having come through the system.

“Being one of the younger ones, we are trying to bring him in line with what other players are.

“It’s protecting our assets essentially, that’s the thinking behind it.

“It’s something he’s earned. In 12 months since I’ve been here he has had a good upward curve of development.

“He’s been out on loan and learned, come back towards the end of last season and done well and he’s started this season all right as well.

“He hasn’t scored a goal yet, but it’s that development curve at his age. At the minute he is still on an upward trajectory and that’s the key.”
