Faster ser­vice is just the ticket as test run to Lon­don is car­ried out

» A FAST train ser­vice from Chel­tenham to Lon­don Padding­ton car­ried out an ex­clu­sive test run on Tues­day ahead of timetable changes in De­cem­ber.

The Great West­ern Rail­way ser­vice saw manag­ing di­rec­tor Mark Hop­wood and Reach plc in­vited guests travel to Lon­don in just one hour 45 min­utes.

The train stops at Glouces­ter, Swin­don and then Lon­don Padding­ton.

Mr Hop­wood showed guests around the new bul­let-style Hi­tachi In­ter­city Ex­press Train, joined by Glouces­ter­shire Live se­nior ed­i­tor Rachael Sug­den and sales di­rec­tor Alessan­dro Galea.

He said: “We’re show­cas­ing what the train is ca­pa­ble of ahead of our timetable change this De­cem­ber where we’re go­ing to be run­ning an hourly ser­vice to Lon­don all day from Chel­tenham and Glouces­ter.

“We’ve also got im­prove­ments on our other rail­way in Glouces­ter­shire through More­ton-in-marsh with a reg­u­lar hourly ser­vice.

“We’re bring­ing more seats, more ca­pac­ity, more fre­quency and shorter jour­ney times as well as im­prov­ing our lo­cal ser­vices in the re­gion.”

The new timetable comes into ef­fect on De­cem­ber 15.
