Faster service is just the ticket as test run to London is carried out
» A FAST train service from Cheltenham to London Paddington carried out an exclusive test run on Tuesday ahead of timetable changes in December.
The Great Western Railway service saw managing director Mark Hopwood and Reach plc invited guests travel to London in just one hour 45 minutes.
The train stops at Gloucester, Swindon and then London Paddington.
Mr Hopwood showed guests around the new bullet-style Hitachi Intercity Express Train, joined by Gloucestershire Live senior editor Rachael Sugden and sales director Alessandro Galea.
He said: “We’re showcasing what the train is capable of ahead of our timetable change this December where we’re going to be running an hourly service to London all day from Cheltenham and Gloucester.
“We’ve also got improvements on our other railway in Gloucestershire through Moreton-in-marsh with a regular hourly service.
“We’re bringing more seats, more capacity, more frequency and shorter journey times as well as improving our local services in the region.”
The new timetable comes into effect on December 15.
