Tewkesbury battle back to take draw with Civil Service to stay top

EARLY leaders Tewkesbury Town battled back to take a 2-2 draw against Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves in Division One of the Cheltenham League.

In a match which saw Town joint manager Teejay Bick return to one of his former clubs, Service who took a 2-0 lead but two late strikes ensured the teams shared the points, setting them up for the reverse fixture next weekend.

Malvern Vale drew 1-1 withsouths­ide Star as a third team lost their 100% record this weekend in the division.

At the other end of the table Dowty Dynamos beat Newton 7-0 while Bredon Reserves edged past Hanley Swan 4-3.

There was one game in Division Two as Smiths Barometric­s Athletic Reserves beat Andoversfo­rd Reserves 3-0.

There was six cup games, all of which saw Cheltenham League teams competing against clubs from other leagues, and five wins, for Windyridge Rovers, Brockworth Albion Reserves, Fintan, Gala Wilton Reserves and Leckhampto­n, while Pittville United’s poor form continued with a 5-0 defeat.

In Division Three, Cheltenham United met FC Lakeside for the third time this season having lost to them in the County and Charities Cups - and Lakeside won again with a 4-2 victory.

303 Squadron started on top of the table but lost 4-0 to Falcons Reserves, slipping to second on goal difference.

Smiths Barometric­s III claimed their first win, 4-3 overtewkes­bury Town while another team with a zero from three record at kick-off, Cheltenham Saracens Reserves, made it no wins from four as they lost 7-0 to new leaders Charlton Rovers Reserves.

Worcester City Royals lost 5-2 to Cheltenham Civil Service III.

After their 20-0 win last weekend, AFC Cheltenham won 4-1 against Pittville United Reserves while Bishops Cleeve FC Developmen­t lost 4-2 at Winchcombe Town Reserves.

Tewkesbury Athletic were 4-3 winners over Andoversfo­rd III, while Charlton Rovers III lost 4-3 to Apperley and Gala Wilton A were beaten 5-2 by Woodmancot­e United.
