Debayo sidelined after undergoing surgery
» CHELTENHAM Town defender Josh Debayo is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.
The former Chelsea, Southampton and Leicester City youngster has been sidelined with a groin injury since starting the Leasing.com Trophy group match at Exeter City on September 3.
After initial treatment from the club’s medical staff it was decided that a minor procedure was needed and the 22-year-old, inset, went under the knife in Leicester on Tuesday.
Debayo has made three League Two starts and two substitute appearances for the Robins this term, along with one start each in the Carabao Cup and Leasing.com Trophy.
He joined the club on a two year deal in the summer of 2018, making six starts and one appearance from the bench before being loaned to Dover Athletic in October and spending the the rest of the campaign with the National League club.
After returning to his parent club for pre-season and starting the campaign in the absence of first choice left wingback Chris Hussey, Debayo signed clear signs of improvement.
