AND DEERHURST

- Ann Wiseman Ann@wisemen.co.uk

The Deerhurst Flower Festival was due to take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend – from Saturday to Monday, August 29 to 31.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic it has been decided to postpone the festival.

We hope it will now take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend next year instead, but look for confirmation of this in this column and on the Flower Festival website deerhurstflower festival.com

These are of course very strange times but hopefully we will be able to look back and see the positives as well as the negatives.

Our churches are shut at the moment, even for private visits and prayers.

To help make up for this, the Severnside Benefice, of which we are a part, will meet weekly on Zoom every Sunday at 11am.

If you would like to join the service it lasts about half an hour.

You can download the Zoom app free of charge.

If you’d like information on how to do this or if you would just like to talk or if you have any other church-related questions contact our vicar Ilse by emailing apperleypriest@gmail.com or call 01452 780880.

Apperley Village Hall is closed until further notice as gatherings are not allowed. If you do need to check out anything to do with a future booking call Pete or Sue on 01452 780610.

We are very fortunate in the current lockdown situation because we are permitted to go out for a daily walk.

The parish has a large number of footpaths and, even if you prefer to keep to the roads, there are plenty of quiet lanes from which you can enjoy some good views of the surrounding countryside.
