» Bishop’s Cleeve Foodbank. The foodbank in Bishop’s Cleeve has seen a big rise in demand last week, following the closure of local schools.

Grateful thanks to those remaining local volunteers who have provided extra cover to run this service as more than half of the existing volunteers are now self-isolating following the latest guidelines.

Besides local volunteers, there are also volunteers working at Guiting Power Central warehouse doing extra shifts processing donations and preparing food parcels.

Please can you take any donations to the only open local collection point, currently at Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Office (next to Tesco’s car park), any Friday morning between 9am and noon. Thank you for your generosity supporting local people who don’t have the money and are really struggling to feed their families at this time.

Please refer to the latest shopping list for further details of shortages on the ‘donating food’ link at northcotswold.foodbank.org.uk and for details on making direct monetary donations.

These are of course very strange times but hopefully we will be able to look back and see the positives as well as the negatives.

Our churches are shut at the moment, even for private visits and prayers.

To help make up for this, the Severnside Benefice, of which we are a part, will meet weekly on Zoom every Sunday at 11am.

If you would like to join the service it lasts about half an hour.

You can download the Zoom app free of charge.

If you’d like information on how to do this or if you would just like to talk or if you have any other church-related questions contact our vicar Ilse by emailing apperleypriest@gmail.com or call 01452 780880.

» Apperley Village Hall is closed until further notice as gatherings are not allowed. If you do need to check out anything to do with a future booking call Pete or Sue on 01452 780610.

» We are very fortunate in the current lockdown situation because we are permitted to go out for a daily walk.

The parish has a large number of footpaths and, even if you prefer to keep to the roads, there are plenty of quiet lanes from which you can enjoy some good views of the surrounding countryside.
