AFORMER Saracens, Wasps, London Irish and Leicester Tigers lock has emerged as the latest name linked with the Gloucester Rugby coaching job.

George Skivington, currently assistant coach at London Irish, is the latest name to be linked with the job.

The 37-year-old is a highly rated young coach and could form part of a team with Rory Teague, reports The Rugby Paper.

Teague, skills coach at Gloucester, has been confirmed to be one of the named on the shortlist drawn up by the Premiership club.

Some interviews have been held and more are planned for next week

The Cherry and Whites have also been linked with Stuart Lancaster, Rob Howley, Richard Cockerill and Dai Young.

Chief executive Lance Bradley told BBC Points West: “There are some very experienced world-renowned coaches on the list, there are some very exciting, young, up and coming coaches on the list. So we’ve got a really good spectrum of people.”

Director of rugby David Humphreys and head coach Johan Ackermann left the club last month Gloucester have confirmed that they do not plan to continue with separate head coach and director of rugby positions.

It has also been reported that recruitment duties would be taken on by commercial director Alex Brown.

In an email to supporters, Bradley added: “With David Humphreys deciding to move on from the club, Alex Brown will be taking on more responsibility on the playing side.

Alex played over 200 games for the club and then spent over six years as rugby operations manager, before being promoted to commercial director.

“Alex is overseeing rugby operations while we continue the process of appointing a new head coach.

“Once the new head coach is appointed Alex will continue to provide support in this area, as we do not plan to continue with separate head coach and director of rugby positions.”

Preparations for the return to training are being managed by Dan Tobin, the club’s head of performance and Gloucester’s Gallagher Premiership season could restart on August 15.

There were 13 rounds of fixtures played before the suspension and Exeter are top of the standings, five points ahead of nearest rivals Sale.

Gloucester’s last Gallagher Premiership game was a 39-22 defeat by Wasps on March 7 and they sit in ninth place, with four wins from 13 games.

The club plan to return to training on Monday, June 15.

“There are some strict protocols we have to go through in order to do this, but we have been working on them for some time and we believe we are now in a position to satisfy the requirements.”

The Cherry and Whites have also revealed the options fans have for refunds of their club membership in the event that games are played behind closed doors.

The three options provided to fans are: a refund of the membership prorata, to add loyalty points to a club members card and redeem the points at the bar or contribute to the new training facility

The final option would see the club membership money stay with the club to help pay for the new facility.
