Touch of class Celebratin­g Ofsted reports after break

SCHOOLS have begun to welcome pupils back following the coronaviru­s lockdown. During the lockdown, Ofsted inspection­s were also put on hold. However, a number of Gloucester­shire schools were inspected in March, just before the closures, with many of them achieving positive reports.

Five schools have returned from the lockdown with good Ofsted ratings after inspection­s in March.

They are from all across the county and the inspectors had some glowing reports of the pupils and teachers.

Cam Everlands Primary School

The school, in Birch Road, in Cam, was inspected on March 4 and March 5 and found to be good.

Inspectors found that pupils ‘rightly proud of their school.’

They also found that the ‘staff are caring’ and that ‘pupils’ attitudes to learning are positive.’

Al-ashraf Primary School

The school, in Stratton Road, in Gloucester, was inspected between March 10 and March 12 and found to be good.

It is described in the inspectors report as a ‘happy and friendly’ school.

They also found that parents are very are supportive of the school, with regular comments from parents such as ‘my child loves school and is doing well.’

Rowanfield Junior School

The school, in Alstone Lane, in Cheltenham, was inspected on March 3 and March 4 and found to be good.

‘Pupils are proud to be a part’ of the school was something revealed by inspectors in their report.

They also found that pupils learn about ‘big ideas and life-changing experience­s, such as life as a refugee.’

Foxmoor Primary School

The school, in Hunters Way, in Stroud, was inspected on March 12 and March 13 and was found to be good. Inspectors found that ‘pupils aim high and achieve well’ at the school.

The report also revealed that there is a ‘nurturing environmen­t’ and pupils look after each other when others need help.

Meadowside Primary School

The school, in Elmore Lane East, in Quedgeley, was inspected on March 11 and March 12 and found to be a good school.

The report from the inspectors states that ‘adults are ambitious for all pupils to succeed.’

They ‘polite’ children also explained to inspectors that ‘making marvellous mistakes helps them to learn.’
