Chadwick takes another step on path to Formula 1
TETBURY racing driver Jamie Chadwick is following Formula One stars Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly by driving in the Formula Regional European Championship with Prema Powerteam.
Leclerc and Gasly both won championships with Prema before moving into F1, and reigning W Series champion Chadwick has entered into a long-term partnership with Rodin Cars.
The goal is to ultimately help Jamie realise her dream of racing in Formula One.
Former Cheltenham College pupil Chadwick, 22, said: “With such an amazing calendar, what looks to be a very competitive grid and, of course. the support of the Prema team, I really cannot wait to get back racing in August.
“I am incredibly grateful to Rodin Cars and David Dicker for this opportunity, and their support in the next chapter of my racing career.
“I’m so excited to start this journey with them and I hope we can enjoy success together.”
Dicker, founder of Rodin Cars, said: “Our philosophy is to make exceptional cars, which requires an exceptional team behind it.
“Jamie is an exceptional talent. We are fully supporting her journey as she moves up the ladder towards F1.
“We want to see Jamie flourish and hone her abilities as a world-class racing driver in competitive racing on the global stage and I believe she has the skills needed to contribute to the development of the forthcoming FZERO – a car that aims to be faster than an F1 car around a track.”
Prema Powerteam principal Angelo Rosin said: “Jamie has achieved brilliant results so far and we are looking forward to seeing her step up to this challenging championship.
“She knows the machinery quite well and her experience will definitely be a valuable asset.
“We are absolutely committed and will give our 100 per cent to help her succeed.”
The Formula Regional European Championship is a Formula 3 single-seater motor racing championship consisting of 24 races across eight weekends, with 25 Super Licence points on the table.
Prema Powerteam are the reigning champions and one of the most successful teams in Formula 3 and Formula 2 racing.
The Championship gets underway on August 1 and 2 in Misano, Italy, and concludes on December 5 and 6 at the Vallelunga track near Rome.
