Two consultations on the future of some health services in Gloucestershire have been launched.
The local NHS wants to reorganise some services in Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals under a project “Fit for the Future”.

Although I am not sure the future of our A & E department will come under these consultations it would be advisable to check and make what contributions we can.
The Parish Council Planning committee meet virtually at 7pm on Monday. All members of the public are welcome to attend virtually. Please contact the parish clerk to obtain your invitation. You will be unable to join the meeting once it has begun.
Despite COVID-19 restrictions our Parish Council continues to work hard to support the local community at this difficult time.
There are currently two vacancies for new Parish Councillors to join existing Councillors in this work. Charlton Kings Parish Councillors work collectively to benefit their local community in a variety of ways. It is an extremely rewarding role and a fantastic way to give something back to the area where you live or work. No specific skills or qualifications are required but you must be willing to work as part of a team and be enthusiastic about improving your local area.
You must be over 18 and either live within three miles of the Parish or work within it. The role would suit those who work well as part of a team and have a strong interest in engaging with and serving their community.
You need time and expertise which could benefit our community and an interest in developing and extending your own skills.

» It is time for the T4U Shoebox Appeal when Christmas boxes are taken abroad for Romanian orphans. Collection points will be: Charlton Kings Baptist Church from Monday November 2 to Friday November 6 daily from 10am-3pm. Salem Baptist Church on Friday November 13 from 10am-2pm and Saturday November 14 from 10am-3pm.
The Parish Council has funding available to support projects run by charities or community groups to improve the lives of local people or the environment in which they live. Grants generally range from £100 and the application process is very straightforward. Guidelines and an application form can be downloaded from the Community Grant page on the parish council website. The Cobalt Cancer Service are making their mobile CT scanners available to NHS England to support patients with the coronavirus, cancer and other urgent health conditions across the country to where they are needed.
The mobile CT scanners will be staffed by our radiographers and we may support the new field hospitals. The Imaging Centres in Cheltenham and Birmingham will provide urgent scans for cancer patients to enable them to continue with their treatment. »
» The local cancer charity, Cobalt, is organising a number of fund raising activates to support the work of cancer services in the area. Challenge your wits with our monthly quiz for you and your friends and family or on the next sunny day choose your favourite walk and step out with sponsorship to raise funds for Cobalt’s research nurses. You can also test your luck with our Quilt Raffle Fundraiser. The money raised from these activities will contribute towards our four specialist research nursing post in breast cancer and dementia research. Research nurses work alongside doctors and with patients for local, national and international research trials. These posts are not funded by the NHS and medical charity Cobalt needs to raise over £100,000 each year in donations to fund these nurses. Cleeve Common is the largest common in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Club were; 1st V Stanley, 2nd A Leslie, 3rd M Beagley. Proceeds from the 100 Club are used to boost the fund for the replacement of the 1846 windows with up to date replicates.
The Rev Malc Allen is delighted to welcome parishioners back to St Michaels, however services will be conducted under strict Government Covid 19 measures.
Sunday service will be at 9.30am, numbers limited as per government guidelines. For those with mobility issues, car access to main gate only then travel to main door either by wheelchair/mobility scooter.
Main door opens 15 minutes before service, please queue outside observing social distance.
Those attending will need to bring and use a face covering during the service. Hand sanitise station in the porch. Also please bring with you a piece of paper with your contact details in compliance with track and trace system.
The service will last for 30 minutes, no singing and no communion. At the end of the service please follow the steward’s instructions regarding leaving the building.
