Robins players put men’s health issues in spotlight

SIX members of the Cheltenham Town squad have been doing their bit to show awareness and raise money for important men’s health issues as part of Movember this month.

The annual event involves growing moustaches to bring attention to issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide.

Men are dying on average six years before women because of preventable reasons.

Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides.

Therefore Charlie Raglan, Sean Long, Will Boyle, Ben Tozer, Alfie May and Andy Williams have all been doing their bit this month to grow their moustaches for Movember to raise awareness and money that will go towards the work being done to address men’s health problems.

Raglan said: “We wanted to do something as a group of lads to bring attention to some of the major issues affecting men’s health.

“Movember is a great way to increase people’s awareness but also to raise some important money for the problems that are sadly increasing for men across the world.

“There are 10 million men who are living with or have had prostate cancer, testicular cancer is the most common cancer a man can get and suicide rates for men in the UK are frighteningly rising.

“Hopefully by doing our bit with Movember we can make more people aware of that and raise a bit of money along the way too.”
