Developer among firms helping to bring festive cheer to streets
» THE annual Christmas lights switch-on in Tewkesbury has been able to take place this year, thanks to the support of local businesses, such as housebuilder Bloor Homes Western.
It is hoped the lights will bring some much-needed festive cheer to the town and encourage shoppers to support local shops and businesses in what has been a challenging year because of the pandemic and national restrictions.
A target of £8,000 was reached with support from Bloor Homes and the community, and the lights went up just in time for the festive period.
Carol Crilly, from the Tewkesbury Christmas lights committee, said: “We are delighted that the lights have gone up across the town in Tewkesbury this year.
“It has been a challenge during the lockdown to ensure that all of the necessary processes were in place for them to go up, but Rifina and Event Tech pulled out all the stops and worked through the night so that families can enjoy the Christmas theme in the town.
“We would like to particularly thank all of the generous individuals and businesses, such as Bloor Homes, who have kindly donated money towards the lights to help us meet our £8,000 target. We have lots of plans in the pipeline for 2021’s switch-on event in the town and we cannot wait to get going.”
Steve Garton, regional sales director at Bloor Homes Western, said: “We are always keen to support the local communities in which we build and now more than ever the annual Christmas lights switch-on in Tewkesbury is an important event for the town.
“We are delighted to be supporting them with this donation, and we hope it brings the community some festive cheer, as well as encouraging people into town for some last-minute Christmas shopping.”
» The final range of 13 two, three and four-bedroom homes is available at Tewkesbury Meadow, priced from £249,000 to £447,000.
