Singleton turns loan into permanent move to Cherry and Whites
GLOUCESTER Rugby have turned their loan deal for England international hooker Jack Singleton into a permanent move.
The club confirmed the 24-year-old who initially joined the Cherry & Whites for the 2020-21 campaign on-loan from Saracens, has extended his stay at Kingsholm.
The length of the new contract is undisclosed.
He also played a key part in Gloucester’s restarted 2019-20 campaign under George Skivington, scoring on his debut against his former club Worcester Warriors back in August.
Gloucester chief commercial officer Alex Brown said: “Jack is a player with significant Premiership, European and international experience under his belt, and he’s already been a key player for us.
“He has significantly progressed his rugby over the last few years and is continuing to develop his game here at Kingsholm.
“We’re delighted that he has agreed to sign a permanent deal here.”
Singleton has three international caps and was part of England’s World Cup squad in Japan in 2019 but for both club and country has found his game time limited with Jamie George ahead of him in the pecking order.
The hooker was one of a number of Saracens stars, like Ben Earl and Max Malins at Bristol Bears, to leave the club on loan over the summer with the club relegated to the Championship.
Singleton said: “I’m really happy to commit my future to Gloucester. I’ve enjoyed my time here, and I’m looking forward to the future with this club.”
Brown and head coach George Skivington have been busy in the transfer market, announcing the signing of Scotland international fly-half Adam Hastings ahead of the 2021/22 season, as well as adding Georgia centre Giorgi Kveseladze on an undisclosed-length contract and Argentine international full-back Santiago Carreras until the end of the season.
