Reality TV star Rogers is back with the ladies

-

HOLLY Rogers has been on quite an adventure since leaving Cheltenham Town Ladies.

The 20-year-old winger has rejoined the club after a successful spell at Boldmere St Michaels Women in the National Premier League, where she scored 14 goals in 19 games last season.

She also spent the summer taking part in a reality TV series for BT Sport called Ultimate Goal, which gave her the opportunity to train at St George’s Park and live like a professional for 10 days.

She was selected because of her versatility and dynamism as a player and ability to run at defenders.

“We were coached by professional and ex-professional players in masterclasses,” she said.

“It aired on BT Sport and was a sixpart series showing the highs and lows of the camp.

“It was such a surreal experience and I will never forget it.”

Cheltenham-born Rogers was due to have trials with the England Universities squad this year, but it was put on hold due to Covid-19.

After a memorable summer, Rogers suffered another blow at the start of this season, rupturing her Achilles tendon on the opening day.

Her rehabilitation is progressing well, and she is expecting to be back to full fitness in around five months.

“I wanted to be a part of a club that was close to home and motivated and determined to do well,” she said.

“The girls are so lovely, and I am so excited to support them from the sidelines to start with.

“I am so excited to come back to Cheltenham and it has changed so much since I left, with new players and management.

“It’s an all-round good club to be a part of. My aims for the rest of the season are to learn, develop and grow as a player as much as I can from being out injured and be ready for next season.”

Rogers is in her third year of a degree in physical education and school sports at Hartpury.
