Coffee and pizza on the menu as plans approved
STREET trading licences for a coffee van and pizza trailer have been given the go-ahead. Daniel Corticeiro has been granted consent to sell hot drinks, cakes, pastries and biscuits from a Piaggio Ape 50cc parked on the pavement near Imperial Gardens.
Mr Corticeiro will be able to trade from 8am to 6pm from Monday to Thursday and until 7pm on Friday and Saturday. With opening hours for Sunday being restricted to 9am to 6pm.
“My intention is to first and foremost to enhance the offer of artisan coffees in Cheltenham and also enhance area visually,” Mr Corticeiro told Cheltenham Borough Council’s licensing subcommittee on April 28.
“We want to change the colour of the Piaggio to cream so that it matches the Queens Hotel and also the colour of number 131 so it blends in the area.
“I’ve been a coffee barista for many years and I know there is a demand for top quality, well-made artisan coffee and hot drinks in that area of the town.”
The sub-committee approved the licence with conditions which include to cease trading when it conflicts with Marketing Cheltenham events and whenever work goes ahead on the nearby railings.
Councillors also approved a separate licence for Richard Hancock to be able to sell stone baked pizza, barista coffee and soft drinks from a trailer measuring 26ft by 9.8 ft on land next to St James’ car park on the corner of High

Street and St James’ Road.
This will be allowed from 10am to 11pm, every day.
Mr Hancock said he has been a business owner for more than 30 years and has experience operating a successful pizza company as part of a food offering at key events such as Cheltenham Racecourse, Reading Festival and Silverstone.
“The primary part of my business is built around freshly baked pizza which sets itself apart from other branded offers in the town,” he said.
“We are going to close before the majority of pubs to avoid any alcoholfuelled gatherings.
“At a time when High Street retail is in a sharp decline with substantial job losses, my proposal offers employment to a minimum of eight people.
“I will also source most of my ingredients locally to support other local businesses.”
