Village bomb scare turns out to be bucket

-

» A BOMB scare in a village turned out to reportedly be a ‘bucket’.

On Bishop’s Cleeve Noticeboard on Facebook last Saturday, May 1, it was reported that “an unexploded bomb” had been found in Shutter Lane, Gotherington.

The post, which was shared by a local councillor, said: “An unexplored bomb has been found in Gotherington down Shutter Lane and a 100m cordon has been thrown up around the site.”

It added: “Police are waiting for the MOD but as the cordon could be extended it may be worth postponing any trips to the village you had planned to make today.”

However despite the speedy and professional response of local police all was not as it initially seemed.

Gloucestershire Constabulary force control room confirmed that there had indeed been a report of an unexploded explosive device at around 1pm on Saturday May 1, 2021, but than upon attendance it was confirmed “not explosive”.

In a further update by the councillor they said: “It was over as soon as it begun; was chatting to local residents and asked the police what was happening, put the update up, then was told it was all clear!

“Turns out the ‘bomb’ was a bucket!”
