Williams joining the Warriors
WORCESTER have announced the signing of Wales international and exgloucester fly-half Owen Williams.
The 29-year-old, who had previous spells in the Gallagher Premiership with Leicester and Gloucester, will move to Sixways for next season from Japanese club Red Hurricanes.
Williams won three caps in 2017 and was named as a replacement for Wales’ Guinness Six Nations game against Ireland last year, but he was injured during the warm-up and had to withdraw.
“I have not worked with Owen before, but a lot of people who have speak very highly of him,” Worcester head coach Jonathan Thomas said.
“He is a huge signing for the club. He’s in Japan at the moment, but he has a lot of Premiership experience with Leicester and Gloucester.
“His versatility, with his ability to play at 10 or 12, gives us good balance.”
Williams becomes the fifth international to bolster Worcester’s ranks for next term, following Scotland wing Duhan van der Merwe, England scrum-half Willi Heinz, ex-wales hooker Scott Baldwin and Tonga number eight Sione Vailanu.
