DEVELOPERS want to build 110 homes on greenfield land in Winchcombe. Bromford Developments Ltd has submitted the plans to Tewkesbury Borough Council which include building 55 affordable houses on 17 acres of land west of Delavale Road.

The scheme aims to provide a mix of semi-detached and detached homes ranging from one to five bedrooms.

Half of the homes will be affordable and around 7.4 acres will be used as public open space while the homes will occupy around 9.6 acres of the site, if approved.

The proposals include demolishing the property at 26 Delavale Road to create a new vehicle access to the housing estate.

The site lies within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is currently used for livestock grazing.

Consultants working on the scheme say the land has been allocated for development within the emerging Tewkesbury Borough Plan.

“The site can support a well-considered designed residential development, complemented by landscaping improvements, new public open space to the surrounding area,” the design and access statement reads.

“The site can be brought forward to meet private and affordable housing needs, whilst recognising the local landscape attributes and character.

“The scheme is in close proximity to local facilities and services in Winchcombe town. Public transport is available ensuring that the site is accessible to the surrounding area, and further afield.

“The site is well located on the northwest of Winchcombe, in an excellent location to facilities and services.

“This site represents an opportunity to bring forward new family housing in an area that is allocated for development within the emerging Tewkesbury Borough Plan.

“The site is designed to frame the settlement edge, lying between existing development on Delavale road.”

People have until June 10 to comment on the proposals which planners are expected to consider by Tuesday, August 3.
