Cafe goes Dutch to create a flavour of the continent
A CAFE has been transformed and now has a new look and menu.
Cafe Boho, in Great Norwood Street, Cheltenham, was able to reinvent itself during the third lockdown when it was closed to customers.
Rob Metz, acquired the business in September 2019. The cafe was redesigned by Floella Interiors, which took inspiration from Rob’s roots in the Netherlands.
It features a bright orange exterior with window designs including kites and even Rob’s upcycled bicycle.
Rob, 50, said: “When we had the last lockdown, we were thinking how we could be different. We decided to become niche and just focus on pancakes and waffles, with savoury and sweet toppings.
“It’s going well so far and people seem to like it.”
Cafe Boho is one of 42 independent hospitality businesses to come together as the TURF Cheltenham collective, supporting each other during the pandemic. Among other things, it features regular communications, training and development sessions and website promotion. Rob, inspired by a friend back in the Netherlands, came up with an idea for ‘The Very, Very First’ auction on the TURF website.
The prizes ranged from a Movers & Shakers garden party for 30, the first tee-off at the Lumiere Charity Footgolf tournament and an unlimited coffee pass at Moosh.
Rob said: “I joined because the industry was new to me and so I learned a lot from them. Even though some of us are in direct competition it’s more about learning from each other.”
