With imagination, our heritage sites have a new lease of life
» REIMAGINING, adapting, innovating and creating have been at the heart of the way The Cheltenham Trust, as a not-for-profit charity, has responded to the immense challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That reimagining has focused on our outdoor spaces at Pittville Pump Room, the Garden Bar and Skillicorne Garden at Cheltenham Town Hall and Leisure at, where the community has been able to meet outdoors safely, and where the focus on mental health and wellbeing has been at the forefront with the support of music, entertainment, exercise classes and activities for all ages. The trust created the opportunity to socialise safely and to enjoy a semblance of normal life.
This week we were delighted to welcome visitors from Visit Britain and Meet England to the Pump Room and town hall, and to be recognised by these prestigious national bodies, for how we’re leading the way with imaginative events at the heritage buildings, and to hear that they will be promoting our story and achievements placing Cheltenham and the trust on the national and international map.
By taking a new approach and reimagining the potential of the venues, the trust has delivered events for all from boogie woogie and pizza at the Pump Room, to weekends of live music at the Garden Bar. Life has been breathed into these iconic heritage buildings, transforming them from becoming mausoleums and placing them firmly at the heart of Cheltenham as a lifeline for the local community during the darkest of days, and significant visitor attractions.
As the buildings reopen and people return as visitors, guests, audiences, performers, the reimagining continues as these iconic buildings live again as they were intended, vibrant and alive, busy and at the heart of the community for all to enjoy. #Eventsreimagined
