» There is a new appointmen­t for a part-time community developmen­t officer (18 hours per week) to meet the expanding workload in the parish office. The role will report to the parish clerk and be based in the small, friendly office in Charlton Kings. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and undertake work as instructed by the parish clerk but the main duties will include: support for the parish council’s community projects, support for funding applicatio­ns and supporting the work of committees and working groups. Candidates should be educated to at least A-level standard and ideally have two years or more in a community engagement, community developmen­t, community support role or similar role. Experience of event management and/or fundraisin­g is desirable. Living in or near Charlton Kings would be an advantage. The closing date for applicatio­ns is June 13.

» Charlton Kings Parish Council sets aside a sum of money each year to support community projects and applicatio­ns for grants may be submitted anytime between April and November. » The decision on the possibilit­y of a Lidl Supermarke­t being built at the old Spirex Sarco site on Cirenceste­r Road has now been deferred until July. The planning reference is 20/02089/FUL.
