» The Regency Probus club which meets on Wednesday mornings at Cheltenham Bowling club has decided not to meet on January 5th and 12th in view of the current Covid situation. I will post in this column in the New Year when the club decides it can meet again safely.

» The Sixways parade of shops on the London Rd at Charlton Kings has sometimes been referred to as ‘Cheltenham’s best kept secret’, but after their recent ‘Victorian’ evening it may be secret no longer.

The Christmas event, promoted by Charlton Kings Parish Council and supported enthusiastically by the local businesses saw a large number of people enjoying the festivities.

Quite a few were in Victorian costume, though this was not compulsory, and in fact two stormtroopers also attended from a long time ago and a galaxy far, far away.

The occasion was given its official start by the Mayor, Councillor Steve Harvey, who introduced Cheltenham’s Childrens’ Choir to sing carols.

Businesses stayed open late, doing a good trade in gifts, food, and drink, Father Christmas was kept busy throughout, and there was a further performance by the St. Edward’s School Choir in their garden space next to Sixways Surgery.

» Best wishes to all my readers for a safe, healthy and happy Christmas.
