Honda end of an era

Honda has released a few details of its next generation Civic Type R, which is based on the new Civic (we’ll be testing that later this month).

No official figures are available but the new car will feature a revised version of the last Type R’s 2.0-litre 316bhp turbo engine. Word is that a new turbocharger will better that figure and also the 5.8 sec 0-62mph and 169mph top speed. The six-speed manual gearbox has also been improved, apparently.

As all future Hondas will be hybrids, this car will likely be the last pure internal combustion engined car the company will sell here.

No price yet, but expect it to be in the high £30k range.
