Delight as CJ reaches 200 off the last ball

» CJ Mclean smashed 200 not out the highest individual score in the County League this season - for Down Hatherley who romped past Ruardean Hill by 191 runs in Division Seven.

The opener needed 11 from the final over to reach his double century, and got there with a single off the last ball to spark great scenes of delight on the boundary.

Mclean faced 139 balls, striking 26 fours and a six to keep his side second and on course for promotion.

It was his fourth century of the summer and helped his side pile up 319-2 from their 40 overs before Ruardean Hill wilted in reply to 128 all out, Luke Brick taking 5-9 and Chris Stuart 4-44.

Down Hatherley remain 16 points behind leaders Arcadian Nine Elms who dispatched Tormarton by 134 runs, Aravind Kumar Singh top scoring on 84 while Bibin Varghese (3-4) and Saviyo Selastian (3-23) shone with the ball.

Captain Tom Cook and Dan Bye were in tremendous form as Oaksey cruised to a 279-run success over Chalford.

The pair shared a partnershi­p of 246 before Bye was dismissed for 138 off only 89 (17 fours, eight sixes) while Cook was out for 147 off 100 (11 fours, seven sixes) in a total of 409-2.

Phil Head (4-22) then led the charge as the visitors were dismissed for 130.

Muhammad Akbar finished with 5-7 for Birdlip & Brimpsfiel­d who bowled out Lydney II for 127 to seal a 33-run triumph in Division Five.

Struggling Whitminste­r beat leaders Kingsholm II by six wickets, opener Ross Wakely top scoring on 93.

Unbeaten Quedgeley & Hardwicke stay clear at the top of Division Six following an eight-wicket success against Eastcombe, Sam Huggins unbeaten on 59 and second-placed Parkend romped in by nine wickets at Stone, Ryan Burris with 5-18.

In Division One, third-placed Hawkesbury Upton were 59-run victors over second-placed Cheltenham Civil Service Alistair Bell (62) and Fletcher May (61 not) producing important innings.

Chipping Campden climbed out of the bottom two with a 15-run victory at Westbury-on-severn while Cheltenham II boosted their hopes of staying up with a four-wicket defeat of Poulton, Chris Williams hitting 71.

Lydney have one foot back in Division One after a 10-wicket trouncing of Gloucester AIW Sports to consolidat­e their lead in Division Two, Tom Legge (90) and Alex Nelmes (58) taking starring roles.

Frampton-on-severn are second in Division Three courtesy of a 65-run triumph at Woodmancot­e while promotion rivals Hatherley & Reddings II lost by 130 runs at Tewkesbury II.

Mathew Halsey (3-13) and Jason Huxstep (3-23) shone for Frampton while Dom Webb (4-33) and Brendan Low (3-12) dominated for Tewkesbury.

Cricklade moved closer to another promotion with an eight-wicket victory away to Cheltenham Civil Service II, Cameron Baden (4-13) and Angelo Rigali (3-4) the heroes.
