Hairdresser closes with immediate effect

AN independent hairdresser business has been forced to close with immediate effect.

5 On The Square in Imperial Square has made the difficult decision to close permanently following changes in the industry post-pandemic.

In a statement posted online, 5 On The Square said: “It is with huge sadness that we will be closing the doors at 5 On the Square with immediate effect.

“Covid has changed this industry dramatically, and sadly many hairdressers have chosen to go mobile or self-employed.

“The impact of lockdowns, increased costs, changes in consumer habits and recent staff changes to operate on a freelance basis has had a detrimental impact on sustaining an independent business.

“There have been numerous challenges over the last few years which have been overcome with determination and incredible support, but sadly, as with other industries and businesses, we too have faced one hurdle too many and this has been the toughest decision to make.

“Thank you to those clients and staff who have remained loyal and supportive during these challenges we appreciate you. We respectfully ask for your understanding as we navigate this time.”
