» Charlton Kings Autumn Fayre will take place on Saturday September 24. There will be lots of free activities for children and their families, including seed bombs, natural mandalas, papercraft activities and listening to plants (you really can hear them making noises).

There will be a children’s entertainer, the Music Man again, as well as live music planned to tempt the grown-ups to get up and dance. A number of vintage village fair games for all ages will be free to play – hook a duck, tin can alley, splat the rat and ball in a bucket are just a few of the games on offer.

All ages are invited to dress up as their favourite characters and hopefully a “swap-shop” stall for people to swap their “too small” costumes for something larger. All of this will be alongside a variety of food and drink stalls, community and charity stalls and of course local businesses showcasing their products and services.

There are some stall spaces available for £15 per pitch, and the council would love to hear from local businesses who would like to join in at the Autumn Fayre.

There are also a limited number of busking spots available, free of charge, which it is hoped local music students would enjoy using to share their talent with the local community.

If you are interested in a stall space or a busking place, please email community@charltonkings parishcouncil.gov.uk or call 01242 250087.

» The local scout group at Bethesda, which was formed in 1925, is looking to recruit more adult volunteers. In particular they are looking for a scout leader to lead a team delivering exciting and varied activities to 10–14-year-olds.

There will be loads of support including flexible training offered by Scouting through a variety of methods at a time and place to suit you. Their training scheme can lead to recognised qualifications including – OCN Level 2.

The scout group is also looking for additional adults to support the sections (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) by being a member of a team helping to plan meetings and run activities. Adult volunteers are able to try different activities, visit new places, learn and share skills and have loads of fun.

Volunteers decide how much or little time they wish to give and they don’t need to attend every week.

If you are interested in finding out a bit more regarding any of the above, please speak to Steve Reis, Group Scout Leader, email to: gsl@bethesda scouts.co.uk
