Bengeworth are top bowlers in tense final

THE Wychavon Parish Games returned on Sunday, when the bowls, sponsored by Pershore Bowls Centre, took place.

Brilliantl­y organised by Pershore Bowling Club, 16 teams took part, which was the highest ever number of parishes in this event,

They were split into four groups of four for the early rounds. Teams then played semi-finals and finals to determine their final positions.

After a tense final, Evesham Bengeworth triumphed over Broadway, who also finished as runners up in 2019 – the last time the Games took place.

Pershore St Andrews were third, with Bretforton fourth, Cropthorne fifth, Peopleton sixth and Wick seventh. Others taking part were: Eckington, Inkberrow, Badsey & Aldington, Fladbury, Hill & Moor, Wyre Piddle, Harvington, Ashton-under-hill and Pebworth.

The next event is the angling, which takes place on the river in Evesham on September 17. Meanwhile, all the knockout events are well under way.
