Deer Park archers Chloe and Grace take European youth medals
» ARCHERS Chloe A’bear and Grace Chappell won medals for Great Britain at the European Youth Archery Championships at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
A’bear, 17, from Cirencester, and 20-year-old Chappell, from Cambridge, were part of a squad of 24 who shot alongside more than 300 athletes from 36 countries.
In the compound Under-21 women’s team competition, A’bear, Layla Annison and Chappell secured a silver, before Chappell secured bronze in the compound Under-21 individual event.
Chappell is ranked 11th senior in the UK and won gold at the European Youth Cup individual event in Slovenia 2019, and silver in the compound junior women at the 2021 Archery GB Youth
Festival.
A’bear is ranked number one at junior level in the UK and eighth at senior level.
She is the 2021 Archery GB Youth Festival compound cadet women’s champion and was fifth in the Indoor National Championship.
She is also a member of the Deer Park Archers, and was selected to shoot for Great Britain at the World
Youth Championships where she finished seventh.
The pair are continuing a tremendous year of success for county archers with Ella Gibson and Phoebe Paterson Pine starring at the European Championships in Munich, World Games in the USA, Para Archery European Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic and the Hyundai Archery World Cup.
