Fairford and Moreton fall at first Vase hurdle

» FAIRFORD Town and Moreton Rangers both went out of the FA Vase in the first qualifying round on Saturday.

Dan Bailey scored for Fairford in their tie at Roman Glass St George and despite the hosts finishing with 10 men, the game ended 1-1 and went to penalties, Fairford losing the shootout 8-7.

Moreton trailed Brislingto­n 3-0 at half-time and despite a George Kirby goal, their Vase run is over.

In Division One on Saturday, Cirenceste­r Town Developmen­t scored their first goals of the new season, but lost 7-3 to Kidlington Reserves.

On Monday, Cheltenham Saracens drew 0-0 with Hartpury University in a game of few chances, while Moreton went down 6-3 at Southam United.

They had led 3-1 with goals from Hedley Smart, Will Middleton and Kirby before Southam came back to take the win.
