Hammond signs new two-year contract
LEFT-HAND bat and right-arm offspinner Miles Hammond has signed a two-year contract extension at Gloucestershire, to keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2024 season.
The 26-year-old has made 119 appearances since his debut against Yorkshire at Headingley in 2013, and has scored more than 3,651 runs across all three formats.
In 2022, Cheltenham-born Hammond has scored 739 runs at an average of 38.89 in Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship and has a strike rate of 144.6 from 13 T20 appearances. In his 20-over career for the county, he has scored more than 1,200 runs in 65 matches.
Hammond said: “I’m really excited for the next couple of years. It’ll be an awesome challenge and one I can’t wait to get stuck into.
“This year has been a big learning curve and I’m looking forward to helping us come back stronger next year.”
In 46 first-class matches during his career so far for Gloucestershire, Hammond has scored 2,237 runs and just last month, hit a career-best 169 against
Hampshire at Cheltenham College.
Steve Snell, Performance Director at Gloucestershire, added: “Miles has shown a huge appetite and skill level in the shorter form of the game, and has also shown that he is committed and very skilled in the red-ball format.
“Miles is able to adapt his game in a variety of ways and I’ve enjoyed observing how well he works with Dale as he keeps on improving in red-ball cricket.
“Miles is a huge part of Gloucestershire’s future and I’m sure he’s going to have a massive impact across all formats for many years to come.”
