Hosking’s last-gasp header gives Civil Service a win on the road

SHARPNESS and Cheltenham Civil Service both left it late to register County League wins on the road on Saturday.

The Sharks visited leaders Gala Wilton and after after a goalless first half Gala went in front as Dan Gayner’s cross was headed in by Martin Smith.

But the game was turned on its head in the 91st minute when a Sharpness corner was cleared off the line by Kieran Mace only for Ben Gibbs to poke home the rebound - then the winner came in the 95th minute following a scramble in the Gala penalty area, Will Lacey giving the Sharks a 2-1 win.

Civil Service snatched the points at Rockleaze Rangers in the 97th minute when skipper Teejay Hosking sent a six yard bullet header from a corner into the net to keep up the newly-promoted side’s unbeaten start.

Hardwicke cruised to a 3-0 home win over newly promoted Stoke Gifford United thanks to a Will Matthews hat-trick.

The hosts led at half time after Matthews low shot found the net from 20 yards and after the break Fred Humphries threaded the ball through for Matthews to score his second before a Ben Dowdeswell cross was powerfully headed in by Matthews for his hat-trick, with their keeper Ollie Hall saving a late token Gifford penalty.

Quedgeley Wanderers stay rooted to the bottom after a 1-0 home defeat by Broadwell Amateurs, the winning goal coming in the 85th minute when Ryan Davies tapped in to keep up the Forest side’s good start to the campaign.

Frampton United beat Patchway Town 2-0, taking the lead on 15 minutes through Freddie Porter.

The second goal for the home side came right on half time when Ryan Vincent’s shot was blocked only for Porter to be on hand to score his second.

Ruardean Hill Rangers went down 1-0 at Bromley Heath, the winner coming on 85 minutes through substitute Alvin Nurse.
