Hand and Lewis shine at Apperley

» THIS Sunday saw Almosts out in force at the local Apperley Quarter Marathon race with nearly 60 members turning up to run this friendly and community orientated race.

Coming in strong with second and third place overall were Josh Hand (40:04) and Nick Lewis (40:53), while Nathan Newton and John Johnson were close behind with 19th and 21st place (44:05 and 44:31).

Katie Coleman was the fourth lady and first female Almost Athlete home in 45:02 with Joanne Johnson second female Almost in 45:43 - both first in their respective age categories, while Jeanette Gullick was first in her category, LV55, with a time of 49:54.

Allan Green put in double duty this week running the Guardians of the CODRC marathon on Saturday with a time of 5:30.45 before going on to finish Apperley Quarter marathon in 1:57.

Some Almosts that weren’t at Apperley on Sunday took part in the Bristol Great Run, where Issy Ravenhill took minutes off her PB to come home with 1:38:55 in the half marathon and Clare Bone finished the 10k in 54:48 to also secure a new personal best.

Andy Domm ran his first half marathon in four years with a time of 2:26:01, and Chris Daddow and David Chittock also took on the half distance, both coming home with times of 1:35:36 and 1:49:56 respective­ly.

Maddie Page completed the Berlin Marathon in 4:02, an incredible 46 minutes off her previous marathon PB.

At parkrun, Chris Handscomb showed his good form isn’t a flash in the pan with a fourth consecutiv­e PB of 24:18 at Cheltenham. Lewis Jones was the first Almost at the event home in a time of 20:19 (17th).

Prashanth Kumar Sripathi (21:54) and Ian Poole (22:01), followed by Peter Mitchener who came second in his age category with a time of 22:10.

Gullick was the first female Almost at Cheltenham in23:59. At King George V, Ian Williams was second male in 19:51 and Catherine Daly was second female in 23:53. Victoria Kennedy ran her 100th parkrun in 28:54.

Joanne Johnson attained a personal best of 20:53 at Gloucester and Hayleywool­nough was eightth female at Evesham (25:25). Neil Tring was the fifth home at Pontypool and the first in his age category in 22:15.

Craig Jackson (22:12), Craig Bullingham (23:48) and Elzbieta Antosiewic­z (26:03) enjoyed the Dolgellau parkrun.
