Appeal for informatio­n after woman is assaulted

A WOMAN was attacked after an argument which broke out between a group of people in a shop in Tewkesbury.

After leaving the shop the woman was subsequent­ly assaulted in a communal staircase in a block of flats.

The incident happened on September 23 at around 4.30pm.

A Gloucester­shire police spokeswoma­n said: “Police are appealing for informatio­n after a woman sustained a head injury when she was assaulted in Tewkesbury.

“At around 4.30pm there was a verbal altercatio­n inside a shop on Queens Road which involved four people who are known to each other.

“The altercatio­n continued onto Warwick Place, and one of the group, a woman, left and went to a nearby address.

“A group of people then congregate­d in the street and threats were heard being made towards her.

“The woman was subsequent­ly attacked in a communal staircase inside a block of flats and sustained a wound to her head.

“She attended hospital for treatment and is now recovering.

“Three males from Tewkesbury, aged between 15 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. One of them was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. They were all later released on bail.

“Enquiries have been ongoing and police are keen to hear from anyone who saw what took place, or who has any informatio­n which could assist the ongoing investigat­ion.”
