Appeal for information after ‘creepy’ incident

-

A WOMAN was reported acting suspiciously around a child in Cheltenham last week.

A mother was walking with her children along Priors Road on Thursday, September 29 when she noticed the unknown woman holding her daughters hand.

It’s reported that the girl was walking about a metre behind her mother and younger sister. When she turned around, the mother said the woman “appeared very placid, calm, almost a bit creepy”.

When questioned the woman did not initially let go. However, police say she walked away shortly afterwards, and the mother described it as “a very creepy incident”.

Investigating officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary have since liaised with the girl’s school and PCSOS will be taking part in patrols of the area. They are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help their enquiries.

The force said in a statement: “The woman was described as being white, in her 60s and had shoulder length grey hair. She was wearing a purple long sleeved top and jeans.”

It adds: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and anyone with information is asked to complete the online form at bit.ly/3uuhyvh quoting incident 273 of 30 September.”
