» Cellist Guy Johnston and Pianist Tom Poster will be playing music by Beethoven, Poulenc, Joseph Phibbs and Brahms at a concert 7.30pm tonight, Thursday October 6, in the Pump Room. Tickets are on sale via the Town Hall website or from the Box Office at the Leisure Centre or you can pay at the door.

» Cheltenham Literature Festival begins tomorrow, Friday October 7, and runs until October 16 with events at various venues around the town. Visit www.cheltenham­festivals.com/ literature for more informatio­n.

» Cheltenham Flower Club meet from 12.30pm on Monday October 10 in the Pump Room for a presentati­on by Dean Sharpe entitled “Autumn Wonder”. The demonstrat­ion is from 2pm to 4pm. Visitors are welcome and tickets cost £7.

» A meeting of the Community Engagement and Wellbeing Committee will be held on Monday October 10 at 7pm in Stanton Hall. Members of the public are welcome.

» A concert to celebrate the 150th anniversar­y of Ralph Vaughan Williams takes place on his birthday, Wednesday October 12 at 7.30pm in the Pump Room. This concert brings together some of the finest musicians in Gloucester­shire including tenor James Gilchrist and the Carducci Quartet. Imogen Holst a former pupil of Vaughan Williams will perform a piece by Rebecca Clarke who also had links with the composer.

» Cheltenham Horticultu­ral Society meet from 7.30pm on Thursday October 13 at Century Hall, Bishops Road, Shurdingto­n. Wilson Wall will give a talk about introducin­g native orchids into your garden. Dr Wall is a passionate conservati­onist and author and he is involved in creating reserves of these special wild plants.

» Celebrate the memory of your loved one this October whilst supporting Sue Ryder Hospice. You are invited to join hundreds of walkers for a great night out and walk under the stars with family and friends to celebrate a loved one.

You’ll have plenty of time to soak up live music from the amazing Rock Choir and Got 2 Sing as well as a fun Clubbercis­e warm up before heading out on your 10km walk. Walkers will have the opportunit­y to pass through the tranquil grounds of Sue Ryder Leckhampto­n Court Hospice softly lit with festoon lights. You will be able to place a star in memory of the person special to you.

» Charlton Kings Parish council recently asked a local landscape architect to produce plans showing an environmen­tal planting scheme for the southern end of Grange Field. These plans were displayed at the recent

Autumn Fayre and hard copies are now available until Monday in the Parish office and can be viewed between opening hours 10am to 2pm. You are invited to provide feedback using forms available.

» There are currently three vacancies for Parish Councillor­s in this area. The Parish Council are particular­ly keen to hear from those with skills or experience in any of the following: Accountanc­y or other financial background; Working with young people; Project management; Sustainabi­lity, nature or green issues; Gardening/allotments; Planning.

These skills would fit very well into some of their many working groups. You must be willing to work as part of a team and be enthusiast­ic about improving your local area. You need to be over 18 and either live within three miles of the Parish or work within it.
