Run ended Cleeve back on the winning trail at Manor Farm

-

BISHOP’S Cleeve ended a run of four Southern League Division One South defeats with a 3-1 win at Bristol Manor Farm on Tuesday, in a game of three red cards.

Cleeve went in front when Lorcan Sheehan let fly and found the top corner from 25 yards, but Farm levelled when Evander Grubb’s shot was parried out to Owen Howe by keeper Lewis Clayton, and the striker made no mistake.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men when Cleeve defender Shayne Anson and Howe were sent off after a scuffle.

Cleeve went ahead in the 83rd minute as Harrison Reeves forced his way through two tackles before calmly rolling the ball into the far corner.

Farm would be forced to see the game out with nine men minutes later as Theo Llewellyn was sent off for a late challenge.

Cleeve put the game to bed on the counter as Farm hunted an equaliser, Jack Watts putting the ball past Ben John at the second attempt.

Marley Thomas equalised with the last kick of the game as Evesham United surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Slimbridge.

Jordan Lymn and Kyle Belmonte had put The Robins in a commanding 2-0 lead with just under half-an-hour to play, but Thomas pulled one back almost immediately after and then with 94 minutes on the clock, he struck again to deny Evesham the three points.

The deadlock was broken in the 37th minute as Belmonte’s through ball was taken on by Lymn before he calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.

Their second goal came two minutes after the half-hour mark as the impressive Belmonte scored his fourth goal of the season, but the Swans were back in the game three minutes later as Thomas pulled one back, and then he struck again at the death.

Cirencester Town are still awaiting their first win in Division One Central after going down 3-2 at Berkhamsted on Tuesday night.

The game got off to a flying start with Nick Hancock giving the Centurions an early third minute lead, but Berko replied straight away through Alie Bangura.

Josh Chamberlain put the hosts ahead after nine minutes, only for Levi Irving to equalise for Cirencester in the 19th minute.

A second for Chamberlain two minutes into the second half in the end proved decisive, leaving Cirencester next to bottom after seven games.

On Saturday, Evesham United and Cirencester Town went out of the FA Trophy in the third qualifying round,

It was an agonising defeat for Evesham, who were reduced to 10 men at Leiston when Ben Hammett was shown a fifth-minute red card for a tackle.

With penalties looming, the 10 men almost held out, but with three minutes remaining George Quantrell lobbed the ball over Fraser Barnsley and in off the post.

Cirencester fell 3-0 at Swindon Supermarine in the A419 derby.

Marine took the lead in the 10th minute as the ball fell to the feet of Brad Hooper 25 yards from goal and he stroked a perfectly placed shot into the top corner.

In the 10 minutes before half time the Centurions had their best spell of the contest.

A Jordan Morris cross was glanced over the bar by the industrious Joe Shepherd, then three minutes later a Levi Irving header from a Joe Turley corner slipped inches wide of Marine’s far post.

In the 52nd minute Supermarine doubled their lead as a low cross found James Harding level with the front post and some six yards from goal, and the striker deftly back heeled the ball past Alex Harris.

The contest was settled in the 71st minute as an advantage call from the referee allowed Zack Kotwica to round Hariis to score.

In the Southern League Division One South on Saturday, Bishop’s Cleeve lost 2-0 to Frome Town at Kayte Lane.

Frome’s first goal came in the 34th minute when a cross was whipped into the box, and although Shayne Anson rose above the rest to head it clear, it couldn’t make it out of the 18 yard box, and Jonathan Davies hit it on the volley into the bottom corner past Lewis Clayton.

Cleeve were pushing hard for the equaliser but Frome added a second on the counter attack as Ben Starr travelled down the right and squared for James Ollis to seal their win.
