Cannon replica a good idea - but at what cost?

✒ TONY Pride’s idea of placing a replica cannon on the empty Crimean War Memorial plinth has its attraction.

The cannon at Huntingdon to which he referred is made of fibreglass, but today 3D printing might be a more upto-date process.

What would be the price of a replica, though?

Huntingdon’s cannon cost £8,000 in 1991.

For the time being a battered Ukrainian flag hangs proudly above the plinth.
