Neil claims trophy

BREDON FC’S Neil Evans won the Tewkesbury District Cribbage League’s Captain’s Cup (Nick Burke Memorial Shield) at the Cross Keys Inn.

This was Evans’ fifth victory spanning 14 years back to when he was captain of the Royal Oak.

Reigning champion Colin Lippett (Anchor 1774) went down 3-1 in the quarter-final to Paul Woodman (Gardeners Arms), who in turn was swept aside 3-0 by Evans thanks to a couple of dozen peg finishes.

He continued to produce them in the final winning 3-1 against Graham Wills (Village Inn), who had battled through two rounds with 3-2 wins.
