ATAME fox has caused such a stir in a street that people are even visiting to take a look. The young animal appears to have made friends with people and their pets in Tom Price Close in the Fairview part of Cheltenham.

He confidently wanders around in the daytime, sits down in the middle of the street and climbs onto car roofs. So says James Walford, one of the residents who have been intrigued by his tameness.

He said he first came across the fox in late June of this year when he was a cub and was with other cubs.

The 42-year-old, who has a dog called Jean, said: “The pups were playing. Then there was this one that decided to investigate my dog.”

He said that sparked a friendliness between the fox and him and some of his neighbours.

He had put some dog food out near his front door and other residents had also fed the creature, he added.

James calls his new animal friend ‘Bingo,’ after a gambling website called Foxy Bingo and he said other neighbours had their own names for him.

He has become quite fond of him and added: “He often comes in the morning and the evening.

“I give him kibble. He comes within a couple of feet of me.

“He walks around in broad daylight, which is completely out of character for a fox.”

James has seen Bingo hanging around with a local cat and said it seemed they were quite friendly with each other.

“He probably feels safe. People have started feeding him and foxes are incredibly adaptable. Everyone loves him.

“It’s become a bit of a tourism attraction. I’ve occasionally seen a family coming to the end of the road to see him out sunning himself,” he said.
