Fancy fish and chip shop rated one of the best in the country

-

» A CHIPPY that boasts champagne pickled quail eggs on its menu has been shortlisted as one of the best places for fish and chips in the country.

The National Fish and Chip Awards has announced the top 10 semifinalists for its Restaurant of the Year category, and the Malt and Anchor in Cirencester has made the exclusive list.

After a rigorous judging process, the top 10 demonstrated extensive knowledge of the fish and chip industry, including customer service, strong environmental standards and sustainability best practice.

The businesses will now face scrutiny from industry leaders to determine the three finalists and the ultimate winner.

Arguably one of the fanciest fish and chip restaurants in the county, the Malt and Anchor offers portions of cod and chips with a bottle of Pontebello Prosecco for £40. You can upgrade to Bocelli Prosecco Premium Extra Dry DOC for an extra fiver.

Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers, said: “We’re delighted with the standard of applications this year and the top 10 restaurants of the year really reflects the quality and hardworking nature of businesses in the UK.

“We can’t wait to celebrate at the awards ceremony.”

The National Fish and Chip Awards are hosted by NFFF on February 28 next year at the Park Plaza, in Westminster Bridge, London.
