Artistic name change given to large hotel

-

A LARGE hotel close to junction 11 of the M5 has a new name. Leonardo Hotel, which was Jurys Inn, is in Gloucester Road, Cheltenham.

The business, which is just off the Arle Court roundabout and the A40 and is close to GCHQ, is an established one. It first opened as the Golden Valley Hotel in 1973 and will be remembered by many people as the site used for the opening shots of Crossroads – the ITV soap opera, set in the fictional Crossroads Motel, which was popular in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

New Leonardo signs have gone up at the four-star hotel, which has 122 rooms. It comes after Jurys Inn was rebranded to Leonardo and Leonardo Royal Hotels.

Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland is a hotel group in the UK and Ireland. It operates 51 hotels, 35 under the Jurys Inn brand, one under the NYX brand and 15 under the Leonardo brand. There are 47 hotels in the UK and four in Ireland.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Already well-established in the UK with 16 hotels under the Leonardo, Leonardo Royal and NYX brands, all 35 Jurys Inn hotels in the UK and Ireland will transition to Leonardo Hotels by the end of 2022 as part of the brand’s ambitious investment programme and growth strategy.”
