Dozens of whisky bottles dumped at beauty spot

-

SOMEONE who likes whisky more than the environment has dumped empty booze bottles at a beauty spot.

Around two dozen bottles of Grant’s whisky were left in a field off Chargrove Lane in Shurdington.

The peaceful single-track road is popular with walkers, dog walkers, cyclists and joggers as it is cuts through fields between Up Hatherley and Shurdington.

However, the fact it is off the beaten track means it is also popular with flytippers.

In the past, fridges and other household items have been unceremoniously dumped there. The empty bottles of Grant’s triple wood blended whisky, which costs around £20 a time, are behind a metal gate on farmland.

Chargrove Lane came into its own during the first lockdown. It was the perfect place to get some fresh air during permitted exercise times, while remaining socially distanced.

The location of the fly-tipping is in the Tewkesbury Borough Council area. The local authority describes fly-tipping as a serious crime and says common fly-tipped items include fridges and mattresses or commercial waste, such as builders’ rubble.

The dumped bottles have been reported to the council. If you need to report fly-tipping, visit https://bit. ly/3grmwxp
