Now, while everyone is abandoning diesels, Mazda launches a big all-new 3.3-litre six cylinder ‘Skyactiv’ diesel.

It’s claimed to be one of the most efficient internal combustion engines of all time, and is an option on a new SUV called the CX-60.

Official consumption is 56.5mph.

Hyundai has opened the world’s first car-powered hotel. Situated in a farm in Essex, Hotel Hyundai is a pop-up open until November 5. Three Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric cars use their V2L (vehicle to load) capability to power the off-grid hotel.

I remember a former Rolls-royce boss telling me years ago that electric power suited their cars perfectly. Now, the first electric Rolls has been released – the Spectre. It’s a big, superluxury coupé and should be the quietest and most refined Rolls-royce ever. place. It consists of a guest suite (a cabin at the farm), a small restaurant and a cinema – each powered by a different car.

Like many new electric cars, the Ioniq 5 has a power socket into which domestic appliances can be plugged.

At three tonnes, it’s also surely the heaviest. Blame the huge battery which gives it a range of 320 miles.

Rolls says that by 2030 its entire range of cars will be electric and promises there’ll be a charging infrastructure befitting the luxury driving experience.
